A week after surviving an assassination attempt, Lindokuhle Ndlovu has resigned as uMhlathuze Ward 13 councillor.
His resignation was confirmed on Wednesday by council speaker Tobias Gumede.

According to Gumede, Ndlovu cited ‘discussions with his family as the basis for his decision to step down as councillor’.
The speaker has directed city manager, Nkosenye Zulu, to declare a vacancy with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) paving the way for a by-election to elect a new councillor.
Ward 13 of uMhlathuze Municipality encompasses the eMpembeni, Madaka, and Mabuyeni areas outside eSikhaleni.
