Remote jammers in operation in Richards Bay
'Tis the season when criminals ramp up their operations, and there have already been reports of remote jamming in Richards Bay CBD
The festive season has started with a bang, and on this Black Friday payday, many Zululanders are getting into the spirit of the season.
Shoppers are urged, however, to not let their guard down and to be extra vigilant when out in public, so as not to fall victim to crime.
‘Tis the season when criminals ramp up their operations, and there have already been reports of remote jamming in Richards Bay CBD.
Don’t let the excitement of bargain hunting get in the way of your common sense, but keep your wits about you.
Take every precaution to not become a victim this festive season, with these tips:
• After parking your vehicle in the car park at a shopping centre, or in any public place, ensure all doors and the boot are properly closed before locking
• Once locked with the remote, test the doors to ensure they are indeed locked
• Ensure no valuables are visible
• Hold your zipped-up handbag tight, and pay close attention to your surroundings.
Motorists are also urged to be vigilant on the roads as the ‘silly season’ has begun, with multiple accidents already reported on the N2 between Richards Bay and Durban this morning (Friday).
Don’t drive when tired, take breaks on long road trips, don’t drive while under the influence of alcohol, keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front, and always ensure there is enough petrol in the tank.
