Festive season truck suspension to ease Richards Bay road congestion

TPT said all trucks must off-load and move out of the terminal by 23 December

In an effort to ease truck congestion on the City of uMhlathuze’s roads over the festive season, Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) has announced the suspension of all long-distance trucks as of this Friday, 22 December.

The move seeks to relieve pressure on the city’s traffic department and on the N2, as well as the John Ross highway where the cargo-laden trucks often queue to off-load at the Port of Richards Bay.

In a communique issued this week, TPT said all trucks must off-load and move out of the terminal by 23 December, with the terminal expected to resume off-loading from 3 January next year.

Harbour-bound operations relating to vessels will continue as usual.
