University of Zululand economist welcomes certain Sona announcements

Welcoming President Cyril Ramaphosa’s State of the Nation Address (Sona) on Thursday, a local economist said the emphasis of private-public partnerships (PPP) in electricity infrastructure and the renewable energy sector would have positive spin-offs for Zululand.

“Regarding water provision, there is a commendable plan for the Northern Zululand Pipeline from Jozini Dam, and the Mandlakazi Water Scheme is expected to resolve provision challenges for the Zululand District municipalities,” said Unizulu economics professor, Prof Irshad Kaseeram.
