WATCH: Political tension between ANC and MK members at Pongola by-election

ANC and MK Party members clash during by-election contesting for Ward 2 in Pongola Municipality

TENSIONS reached boiling point in Pongola on Wednesday morning as ANC and MK Party members clashed during a by-election.

The ANC, IFP, MK and EFF contested for Ward 2 after it became vacant in December following the resignation of the beleaguered former councillor and Pongola mayor, Velephi Sikhosana.

In video footage which has since gone viral on social media, ANC members are allegedly dismantling and removing an MK Party gazebo.

The incident took place at Ncotshane township outside the polling station.

While MK members have reportedly opened a case of intimidation and malicious damage to property at Pongola SAPS, the ANC has dismissed the allegations.
