Unplanned interruption affects water supply

Some areas were without water following a burst pipe

Ubombo, Bethesda, Mkuze Town, and surrounds were without water following a burst pipe ‘on the rising main to Mkuze distribution tower’.

Social media users flooded the municipality’s comments section with reports that the oBonjeni-based Bethesda Hospital did not have water.

uMkhanyakude District Municipal Manager (MM) Musa Nxumalo said residents were notified about the unplanned interruption.

“Mkuze will have water until the tower runs empty. There are just enough volumes in our clear water storage reservoirs to last until midday today – depending on consumption.

“uBombo will be without water due to a breakdown of the stage pumps taking water from Mkuze WTW to uBombo WTW. However, contracted services have been called to assist with repairs. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”
