Elections 2024: King Cetshwayo District IEC on track with national timetable

District is currently recruiting counting officers ahead of elections

With the 2024 general elections set for 29 May, the local district IEC office is forging ahead with preparations.

As per the national 100 days marathon timetable, the commission has now concluded the party candidate list opening for applications for special votes, set to take place from 15 April to 3 May.

King Cetshwayo IEC regional manager Stella Dlamini said all registered voters who may wish to be part of special voters within the region can visit their official website, their offices, or send an SMS to 32249.

“[We are] currently recruiting for the position counting officers. We need a large number as three officers per voting station are required, with a total of 563 voting stations in the region. We are also busy with the training of staff and stakeholder engagement,” said Dlamini.

Dlamini added that the process for Section 24A opened on 12 March and runs until 17 May.

This is for those voters who might find themselves not at the voting station at which they are registered, come election day.

She said all local municipalities in the region have IEC offices should voters require further assistance.

King Cetshwayo District has 107 wards with 563 voting districts.

The 2024 voter registration closed at the 503 395 mark, with the City of uMhlathuze at 206 073, uMlalazi at 111 422, uMfolozi at 76 744, Nkandla at 62 149 and Mthonjaneni at 47 007.
