Local woman is on a mission to climb Kilimanjaro

Hillside Aluminium's Noriah Ramoloko will join the Mount Kilimanjaro summit in August

With four months to go before she summits the highest peak in Africa, Noriah Ramoloko is pleading for support to complete her mission successfully.

While the upcoming summit of Mt Kilimanjaro is a personal challenge and a ‘dream come true’, Noriah urges Zululanders to help her raise the funds for this worthy cause.

An employee at Hillside Aluminium, Noriah will join six other women from South32’s operations as part of the Trek4Mandela summit in August.

The mountain climb aims to raise funds to support the Caring4Girls menstrual hygiene programme implemented by the Imbumba Foundation – supporting adolescent girls with sanitary towels and menstrual hygiene, among others.

“This is something I always wanted to do,” said Noriah.

“It would mean a lot to me as I always told myself that in life I can do anything as long as I put my mind and energy to it, so climbing Mount Kilimanjaro will prove that,” she said.

An online crowdfunding campaign has been launched, where those wanting to donate can submit their pledges. South32 is set to match the amount raised.
