Big 5 Hlabisa Municipality prays for peaceful elections

Ngodini community holds prayer for peaceful elections

The death of Inkosi Bonga Mdletshe was a great loss to the entire Mdletshe Tribal Authority, as he played a significant role in the upliftment of his community.

This was the sentiment of Big 5 Hlabisa Mayor Comfort Khumalo during a prayer held at the Ngodini community hall last week to pray for peaceful elections and against social ills.

The late Inkosi Mdletshe (69) passed away naturally on 24 April and was laid to rest on Friday.

Mdletshe served as speaker at the KZN Legislature from 1998 to 2004 when he was succeeded by Willies Mchunu.

Mdletshe was a member of the KZN Legislature from 1994 to 2013 and was a lawyer by profession.

“Let us put the Mdletshe family in our prayers. Let us also pray for a family who lost their home to a mysterious fire in the Mqobokazi area. I believe God will see all the affected families through,” said Khumalo.

Big 5 Hlabisa Municipality planned to host a series of prayers.

During last week’s prayer, Khumalo donated performance drums to four Shembe church temples located in Ward 8 and promised the same to other temples around his municipality.

Mpilenhle Temple church leader Shayimbizo Ntshangase said as church members they were very excited about the gesture.

The secretary of the church leaders’ committee, Reverend Vusumuzi Mbatha, promised that his committee would work hand-in-hand with the local municipality in the prayers.
