Pray for your husbands and sons

Multi-interfaith prayer against social ills

Joining the movement to eradicate GBV in society, Big5Hlabisa Deputy Mayor Cllr Hlengiwe Nkosi-Mngomezulu has urged women to pray for their husbands and sons.

She made this plea during the multi-interfaith prayer at Mpembeni Community Hall on Thursday where she explained the municipality has various programmes to address social ills in communities.

“We have also set aside a budget to assist those living with disabilities as well as to care for those living with HIV and Aids

“As the municipality, we invited leaders from local churches to come together and pray for all against crime and other atrocities faced by our communities,” she said.

The interfaith committee leader, Reverend Nhlakanipho Mavundla said they were invited to pray against domestic violence and to have peaceful elections.

“GBV is cancer that destroys our families. It needs God’s intervention – police and leaders cannot get rid of it without God’s favour,” he said.
