Green male mamba fancies being on TV

While most people are careful about what they watch on TV, for a Meerensee family it was the drama under the TV that was scary.

In this case, a 1.6 metre green mamba that was lurking in the lounge under the TV cabinet.

“We got the emergency call around noon on Wednesday,” said intrepid snake catcher Peter ‘Daring’ Daniel.

“The people were lucky they saw it as they were about to leave for the week for Hlabisa.

“They were leaving the children with the caregiver, and who knows what might have happened if it was not spotted and one of the kids bumped into it.

“The catch itself was quite easy and ultimately the mamba will be released into a friendlier environment for itself and humans.”

The mamba catch followed that of a forest cobra, also in Meerensee, last week.
