Second consecutive fuel price drop on the cards

Motorists could experience yet another relief next month as fuel prices are expected to decrease for a second consecutive month

Following last month’s fuel price relief, another decrease is on the cards for July.

The Automobile Association (AA) is predicting a decrease to prices for all fuels on the first Wednesday of the month.

The price of unleaded petrol 95 is expected to drop by around R1.10 per litre, while unleaded petrol 93 could come down by around R1.15 per litre.
“Diesel is again edging towards a decrease of 55 cents per litre and illuminating paraffin is showing a decrease of around 45 cents per litre.

“These decreases, however, will not move the prices of fuel to lower prices seen at the beginning of the year,” the AA said.

The association was commenting on unaudited mid-month fuel data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF).

“At this stage of the month, the numbers are more reflective of the way the fuel prices are likely to move when they are adjusted for July.

“Currently, the trajectory indicates that all fuels will be cheaper in July,” the AA said.
