Damaging wind warning for SA coastline

Weather Service issues warning for damaging winds, waves from Plett to Richards Bay

THE South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a warning for damaging winds for the country’s eastern coastline.

The warning is in place today (Saturday), and is in effect between Plettenberg Bay in the southern Cape and Richards Bay in KwaZuluNatal.

A level 4 warning for damaging winds covers the coastline from Plettenberg Bay to just south of Durban, while a level 2 warning for damaging waves covers the coastline from south of Durban to Richards Bay.

This follows the NSRI’s new moon spring tide warning, issued on Friday, effective until middle of next week.

Sea Rescue urged beach-goers, bathers, boaters, sailors and shore anglers to exercise extreme caution during the higher-than-normal high tides and lower-than-normal low tides.
