Parts of Mtubatuba left in darkness following planned power outage
Planned Eskom power outage lasts longer than 24 hours for parts of Mtubatuba
SOME areas in Mtubatuba were left in darkness this week after a planned Eskom power outage lasted over 24 hours; far longer than the time frame announced by the power utility.
Residents were left frustrated and angry, most concerned that their refrigerated foods would go off when by Thursday morning the power had not been restored in KwaMsane, Nkombose, Dukuduku and other areas.

On Tuesday, Eskom announced a planned power outage for Wednesday, from 3.30am to 7.30pm, with an alternate date of 16 August.
Mtubatuba was plunged into darkness in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, with several areas remaining powerless when electricity was not restored by Thursday morning.
Eskom’s Joyce Zingoni said the planned power outage was later affected by a fault, but power was restored.
However, on Thursday, residents living outside Mtubatuba town, including Nkodibe, St Lucia and Nordale, among others, were still raising complaints of having no electricity.
Responding to the Zululand Observer, Zingoni on Thursday morning said, “There is a fault affecting the 132kV line in northern KZN areas. Teams are on site and power should be restored this afternoon.”
