Husband seeks justice for wife’s ‘forged resignation’

Husband demands answers after his wife Zandile's career was cut short at Nkandla Municipality

Two years after opening a criminal case against Nkandla Municipality, Dumsani Madlala is still unravelling the mystery behind his late wife’s alleged forged resignation letter.

While his wife, Zandile, was recovering from a brain operation in 2022, her career was cut short at Nkandla Municipality as a superintendent under the DLTC department where she had worked since 2014.

“While my wife was hospitalised, three top management members formed a team and drafted a resignation letter behind my late wife’s back, forging her signature,” alleged Dumsani.

“How can you make a resignation letter for an official, sign that letter on her behalf and forge her signature?” he questioned.

“And how do you take away medical aid from a person recovering from an operation? How does a sick person survive if you cut off their salary without notifying them?”

Dumsani opened a criminal and civil case in September 2022 and the police investigation is still ongoing.

Approached for comment, Nkandla Mayor Mbhekiseni Biyela said, while the police investigation is ongoing, the employee suspected of committing the alleged fraud has resigned.
