WATCH: Cheetahs’ welcome return to area after eight decades
Cheetahs have returned to Thula Thula Private Game reserve
Last seen in the area in 1941, and with only a few thousand left in the wild, cheetahs have returned to Thula Thula Private Game reserve.
“It is a dream come true,” said Francoise Malby-Anthony, Thula Thula Game Reserve owner.
A female cheetah arrived last Friday from Limpopo, while two males arrived two weeks ago from the Eastern Cape.
“Cheetahs are a highly endangered species, with 6 500 left in the world.” said Malby-Anthony.
Thula Thula, which has hyaena and leopards, now has its first diurnal predators, and also welcomed four hippos last week.
