WATCH: Cheetahs’ welcome return to area after eight decades

Cheetahs have returned to Thula Thula Private Game reserve

Last seen in the area in 1941, and with only a few thousand left in the wild, cheetahs have returned to Thula Thula Private Game reserve.

“It is a dream come true,” said Francoise Malby-Anthony, Thula Thula Game Reserve owner.

A female cheetah arrived last Friday from Limpopo, while two males arrived two weeks ago from the Eastern Cape.

“Cheetahs are a highly endangered species, with 6 500 left in the world.” said Malby-Anthony.

Thula Thula, which has hyaena and leopards, now has its first diurnal predators, and also welcomed four hippos last week.
