Local farmers express dissatisfaction with a decision refusing an application to dredge

Farmers adversely affected by the back-flooding at the Msunduzi and Mfolozi river mouths within iSimangaliso Wetland Park have expressed their dissatisfaction with a decision refusing an application to dredge the inundated area.

The refused application by iSimangaliso to the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) to dredge the affected area entailed clearing the
vegetation and sediment that has clogged the Msunduzi channel, with the aim of alleviating back-flooding and draining the Msunduzi and Mfolozi flats.
