Mtubatuba store shut down during ministerial oversight visit

Several stores inspected during joint operation in Mtubatuba

A popular store in Mtubatuba town was shut down for violating several laws during ministerial oversight visit on Thursday.

Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour Jomo Sibiya and Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Njabulo Nzuza, accompanied by uMkhanyakude District Mayor Siphile Mdaka conducted the oversight visit in Mtubatuba where the retail store, JZEE Fashion, was closed following an inspection.

The store owner was in violation of the National Minimum Wage Act, the Unemployment Insurance Act, the Compensation Fund Act, the Basic Condition of Employment Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and environmental health regulations.

The joint operation, which included SAPS and immigration officers, inspected a number of stores throughout the town, including those run by foreign nationals.
