Eleven large brown bales of dagga found in minibus travelling from Eswatini to Durban

Working on tip-off information, two suspects were on Friday arrested on the R34 near Gluckstadt and charged with dealing in dagga.

Zululand Cluster police spokesperson Captain Nkosie Gwala said the duo was travelling in a minibus from Eswatini to Durban.

“Police members from Gluckstadt Police Station, together with private security guards, conducted an operation based on the tip-off. While they were waiting at the roadside, they spotted a vehicle fitting the description and flagged it down.

“During a police search, 11 large brown bales of dagga, as well as 24 small bales, with a weight of 531kg were found inside the vehicle. The pair is expected to appear at Vryheid Magistrate’s Court soon,” she said.
