Mid-week scorcher ahead of rain relief
Zululanders in for scorching Wednesday, Thursday, with temps set to drop for weekend
It will be ‘scorchio’ across the Zululand region tomorrow (Wednesday) and Thursday as temperatures are set to tip the summer scales.
Topping the charts in the region, Pongola and Richards Bay residents should brace for 37 and 39 degrees Celsius tomorrow and Thursday respectively, while Hluhluwe is also set for a scorcher at 36 and 38 degrees for the two days.
Empangeni and Mtunzini can expect a slight dip, at 35 and 37 degrees C on Wednesday and Thursday respectively, while Mtubatuba residents are in for a more manageable 31 on both days.
The heat is set to start breaking on Friday, with thunderstorms forecast across the region, but temperatures remain high in Pongola, at 37 degrees Celsius.
Richards Bay will experience a much milder Friday at 29 degrees, Empangeni and Mtunzini a cooler 28 degrees with cloud cover, with Hluhluwe in for 33 degrees and thunderstorms on Friday.
A wet Saturday is expected across the Zululand region, with Hluhluwe in for 28 degrees, Pongola 27, Richards Bay 25, and Empangeni and Mtunzini a cool 23 degrees C.
Stay safe during scorching temperatures by keeping hydrated, staying out of the sun between 10am and 4pm at least, applying sun screen and wearing a hat.
Ensure your children and pets are also hydrated, with sufficient shade for pets kept outdoors.
Do not take dogs for walks during the heat of the day – if the ground is too hot for your feet, it will be too hot for your dog’s pads.
