Beat the heat in your car this summer

Things are heating up and so is your car!

While there are few things worse than having to drive home in a ‘hot box’ after spending the day in an air-conditioned office, are there affordable ways to combat this end-of-work-day horror?

MotorTrend has the following tips to help reduce the aggravating Zululand heat:

•     Park in the shade
•     Leave the windows open a crack – if safe to do so – to let out some of the heat
•     Use a sunshade for the windscreen
•     Use a fitted car cover
•     Tint your car’s windows
•     Ensure the vehicle condenser core is clean
•     Check the coolant system
•     Avoid quick-fix gadgets that don’t work

These tips will help the car to cool quicker once you crank up the air con, but remember to service the air con regularly to ensure optimum efficiency.
