Woman arrested for murder of lover

Woman accused of killing her lover is due back in court for a bail hearing

A woman was last Friday arrested in Pietermaritzburg for stabbing to death her lover in the Zwenelisha area of Mtubatuba recently.

Pinky Ngubo appeared in the Mtubatuba District Court on Monday and is due back in the dock for a bail hearing. Ngubo was arrested after she disappeared following an incident that occurred at the Dube homestead on 4 December.

On the day of the incident, the deceased, Sfundo Mabika (35), was stabbed with a sharp object, allegedly by Ngubo following an argument.

The police said the motive for the murder is unknown at this stage, however, it is alleged that an argument had ensued between Mabika and Ngubo after he found her at the Dube homestead in the company of another man, believed to be her lover.

An eye witness alleged Mabika was suddenly seen running out of the room in which he and Ngubo had been arguing, and fell to the ground.

It is alleged that Ngubo soon followed and poured water over Mabika while he was lying on the ground.

Ngubo then allegedly fled the scene with the other man, and they were reportedly seen carrying bags.

Police said it was found that the deceased had an open wound to the chest and that he was later identified by a relative before being taken to a government mortuary.
