City of uMhlathuze rubbish collection again in spotlight

Some suburbs' refuse went uncollected for 13 days, causing health concerns

Health concerns abound as rubbish bins, uncollected for two weeks in parts of Brackenham and other suburbs in Richards Bay and Empangeni, attract all manner of pests, including maggots and cockroaches.

City of uMhlathuze refuse removal is again in the spotlight, with the municipality’s top brass having ‘regrettably acknowledged’ delays in certain areas, which come amid logistical challenges relating to rubbish truck availability.
