Anti-litter campaign continues unabated

Call-to-action campaign sees Zululanders striving towards a cleaner city

It’s a new year, and the work to ensure a clearer city continues.

The change is visible – many Zululanders are joining the ‘Tell us where the dirt is’ campaign in a bid to help clean their city.

With the culture of illegal dumping and littering a widespread problem throughout the region, concerned Zululanders are becoming part of the solution one ward at a time.

Since the campaign’s inception last year, many wards have formed groups to focus on tackling litter problems on their ‘doorsteps’.

Residents continue to identify litter-strewn areas, and this week eSikhaleni residents identified tonnes and overflowing municipal skips around the suburb and outside areas.

The hope is to alert the authorities to empty the skips on time and to encourage residents to throw litter inside the skips, not around them.

The main reason for this programme is not just for residents to identify litter-strewn areas, but also to encourage individuals, businesses and schools to take responsibility for their litter.
