King Cetshwayo District municipality turns to Constitutional Court over labour dispute

The protracted labour dispute between King Cetshwayo District Municipality (KCDM) and Water and Sanitation Services South Africa (WSSA) will be decided in the Constitutional Court.

This after a recent council meeting that deliberated on the matter resolved to appeal the Labour Court judgment.

The judgment concurred with the 2020 High Court ruling to reinstate 666 former WSSA workers who lost their jobs after KCDM terminated the company’s contract and the subsequent appointment of uMngeni-uThukela Water, which led to job losses for the affected employees.
