WATCH: Mini-substation fire causes power outage in Empangeni

Most parts of Empangeni were without electricity this (Friday) afternoon owing to a fire that destroyed a mini-substation at the Rail.

The City of uMhlathuze Fire and Rescue department was quick to extinguish the blaze.

This was confirmed by Ward Councillor Andre de Lange who also reported a burst water pipe in the area, which is currently being attended to.

The pipe damage has left some residents without water supply.
