Chef spreads love one plate at a time for Izulu Orphan Projects
Local chef celebrates birthday cooking for orphaned children

While most people would opt to spend their birthday with family and friends, local chef Luyanda Ngema prefers to spend time with the children of Izulu Orphan Projects (IOP) in Ngqamuzana.
Since 2023, each birthday he has visited the institution to cook a delicious meal for the children and staff.
Staying true to his tradition, this year was no different as Luyanda cooked up a storm on Friday, 24 January in celebration of his birthday on 26 January.
His continued act of kindness has left a lasting impression and positively impacted the lives of the children.
Expressing the centre’s gratitude is the centre manager, Mpume Shange, who said, “Luyanda deserves to be called the IOP chef because he has celebrated his birthdays with our kids since 2023.
“Using his skill to bless our children is amazing. The one thing we are learning from him is that you do not need to have millions to be a blessing to others, rather using what you have and spending your time with those who are underprivileged can impact their lives.”
