Suspected drug trafficker tries to flee N2 roadblock
Two suspects arrested for possession of drugs during N2 roadblock

Two suspected drug traffickers were nabbed during a high density operation in iLembe District on Saturday.
The men were found in possession of drugs worth over R160 000 during a roadblock on the N2 at Mvoti Plaza.
iLembe Cluster police spokesperson Captain Alex Thomson said police stopped a minibus taxi for a routine search.
“A suspicious passenger jumped out of the vehicle and fled into a nearby township. Police chased him, and with the assistance of the community, he was found hiding in one of the houses but the homeowners were unknown to the suspect.
“His bag was searched and about 2 800 red and white pills – believed to be whoonga capsules – were found,” said Thomson, adding that the suspect (29) was arrested and charged with possession.
“Another suspect [was arrested] during the roadblock after being seen hiding something in his vehicle. His vehicle was searched and cocaine was found in his possession,” said Thomson.
Both suspects are expected to appear in the KwaDukuza Magistrate’s Court.
“Both these drug recoveries highlight the importance of roadblocks, which are sometimes seen as an inconvenience to law-abiding road users.
“The arrest has effectively reduced the amount of drugs that could have been sold to the community, affecting the youth,” he said.
