While it not only poses a danger to beachgoers, driving your vehicle onto the beach is also prohibited.

The city has warned that it will take stern action against those caught in the act.

“Visitors to our beach areas in the City of uMhlathuze are cautioned against driving on beaches.

“An incident of someone driving on the beach near Alkantstrand was reported this (Saturday) morning,” said uMhlathuze Deputy Mayor Christo Botha.

“This behaviour is unacceptable and will lead to fines, with the vehicle and driver being red-flagged.

“It is disappointing that some individuals show no regard for their community and environment.”
