Empangeni water supply to be restored

uMngeni-uThukela completes repairs at Empangeni pump station

The uMhlathuze Municipality has begun pumping water to Empangeni and surrounding areas following a three-day interruption in water supply.

This as uMngeni-uThukela announced it had concluded repairs at the Empangeni pump station, which was flooded at the weekend after a gasket leak.

“Repairs by uMngeni-uThukela Water have been completed at the Nsezi abstraction point, and the City of uMhlathuze team has started pumping gradually at Pearce Cresent Pump Station.

“Water supply will be restored as soon as the level increases to half of the reservoir,” uMhlathuze Municipality announced in a statement on Tuesday.

uMngeni-uThukela conducted repairs that included replacing a motor and high-voltage electrical cables damaged during the flooding.
