To dredge or not to dredge

The debate around dredging of the Mfolozi and Msunduzi flats is again firmly in the spotlight after the refusal decision was last week set aside.

While no final decision has yet been taken, Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) Dion George has referred iSimangaliso Wetland Park’s dredging application back to the chief directorate (CD) for integrated environmental authorisations (IEA) for reconsideration.
