Water crisis deepens as district, water board clash over R600m debt

District, water utility clash while communities go dry

Despite resolving to insource bulk water service operations, communities under King Cetshwayo District Municipality (KCDM) continue to struggle without clean running water.

This after the district resolved to terminate its contract with uMngeni-uThukela Water (UUW) amid an ongoing dispute over a R600-million debt which led to widespread water outages.
