Load-shedding still on the cards

Eskom says, despite managing to keep the system stable, load-shedding remains a possibility

Despite managing to keep the power grid stable after Monday night’s load-shedding warning, Eskom says the system is still constrained.

The power utility said load-shedding may still be implemented at short notice if necessary.

“Work continues to bring six generation units back online, with one unit already restored,” said Eskom.

“Our teams are closely monitoring the situation and we will provide further updates as needed.”

After a 10-month run without load-shedding, recent weeks have seen the power grid take strain.

While load-shedding is at present being implemented only on an ‘as and when’ basis, the situation could well change as winter rolls around.
