Search for missing girl (15) continues at Mhlathuze river

The search continues for a Grade 10 pupil who is believed to have been swept away while attempting to cross the Mhlathuze River

Hope is fading that the 15-year-old girl, washed away by a strong current while crossing the Mhlathuze River on Monday, will be found alive.

Zamile Mpanza, a Grade 10 pupil at Mevamhlophe High School, was heading to school on the fateful day.

Moses Ngubane (41), her uncle from Bingoma area in Mevamhlophe reserve, said she was dressed in her uniform and carrying her school bag when she left home.

Just after 8am, he says, the friend witnessed Zamile being washed away…
