Nkandla storm victims rebuild their broken lives

Building material donated to Nkandla families who lost homes during recent heavy rains

Left destitute after heavy rains destroyed their homes, many Nkandla residents are rebuilding, thanks to a massive donation of building material.

The team, led by Nkandla Fire and Rescue and the municipal council, donated building materials to ensure families could restore their homes and rebuild their lives.

Residents can now fix their roofs that blew away during the storm which affected homes in wards 1, 2, 3, 4 and 10.

The Nkandla municipal council has also been lobbying the relevant government departments – including the Department of Human Settlements – to intervene.
