Richards Bay police officers commended for bringing down syndicate of armed robbers targeting hitchhikers

Police officers who brought down a syndicate of armed robbers targeting hitchhikers were praised for their efforts during a special event hosted by Richards Bay SAPS last week.

The operations, led by Lt Colonel Thokozani Mkhabela with constables NS Mbuyazi, MP Gumede, P Mthethwa and SM Mdletshe, resulted in the arrest of two wanted criminals who were linked to seven serious cases.

The spate of armed robberies occurred around Richards Bay between October last year and last month, where unsuspecting hitchhikers were given lifts with the expectation of being transported to their desired destinations…
