Sadness as Bandit exits police service

Empangeni SAPS K9 unit bids final farewell to Bandit who suffered from an illness he contracted during a search

More than man’s best friend, Bandit (4), a local hero and a valuable member of the Empangeni SAPS K9 unit, has sadly signed out for the final time.

He gained his angel wings and graduated to ‘doggy heaven’ earlier this month due to an illness he contracted during a search.

“He contracted a viral infection that attacked his immune system. The infection soon made him blind, which would have ended his career, but he began suffering from other ailments such as high blood pressure and kidney failure,” explained Bandit’s partner in fighting crime, Warrant Officer Adriaan de Villiers…
