Motorists urged to behave during Easter holiday

uMfolozi Municipality holds multidisciplinary roadblock with law enforcement and conservation authority

UMfolozi Mayor Xolani Bhengu has urged motorists to adhere to and obey all rules of the road during the Easter weekend.

Bhengu made this call at a roadblock held on the N2 on Wednesday.

The roadblock was conducted by uMfolozi municipal leadership with traffic police, firefighters and Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife.

Bhengu explained that their main objective was to inspect the roadworthiness of vehicles and to check that drivers held correct licences.

“We searched many vehicles. Several were found to have expired discs, and the drivers were fined. One of the drivers was found in possession many fish without a permit.

“We urge all motorists to refrain from drinking and driving so as to avoid unnecessary accidents that might cause loss of life.

“We urge motorists to drive with caution, especially in wet weather. We also warn members of the community to avoid crossing swollen rivers,” said Bhengu.
