High police visibility over Easter pays off

Police visibility and operations were in full force in Mtunzini and eShowe over the Easter weekend

The SAPS King Cetshwayo Cluster reported several operations over the Easter weekend, which resulted in arrests and confiscations.

District spokesperson Captain Siyanda Shangase confirmed that police visibility and operations were in full force as stop-and-search operations held in Mtunzini and eShowe resulted in almost 1 000 people searched.

Additionally, over a dozen road traffic violations were issued, with arrests for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, possession of drugs, dangerous weapons, and stolen property.

Some 264 vehicles were searched and an unlicensed 9mm pistol with ammunition was recovered with other dangerous weapons.

Seven people were arrested for illegally dealing in liquor, and alcohol was confiscated.
