Alleged manipulation of Aquadene housing beneficiary list raises concern

Alarm raised over alleged manipulation of Richards Bay housing project beneficiary list

While hundreds await the construction of houses in Aquadene, an alarm has been raised over the alleged manipulation of the beneficiary list.

This as the KZN Department of Transport and Human Settlements says it has been ‘inundated with inquiries from concerned community members’ regarding the alleged list of beneficiaries linked to the Aquadene Housing Project.

The department’s MEC Siboniso Duma has, however, warned that anyone who claims to be in possession of the final beneficiary list for the Aquadene Housing Project ‘is dishonest and is spreading lies’.

He said they have tasked the head of the Department of Human Settlements to compile a report on the project.

“Corruption associated with the allocation of houses and the overall administration of beneficiary lists continues to receive our immediate attention,” said Duma.

He warned that action will be taken against ‘anyone found to be manipulating processes’ relating to the compilation of beneficiary lists.
