Elephant seal makes surprise early morning visit to residential area in Cape Town

While hippos are frequent visitors to some towns and suburbs in the Zululand region, including in Richards Bay and St Lucia, a community in Cape Town received a visit of a different kind.

Residents of Sir Lowry’s Pass Road in Gordon’s Bay were surprised by a massive elephant seal, which was recorded cruising the streets this (Tuesday) morning.

The Cape of Good Hope SPCA inspectors were at the scene working on a ‘safe and stress-free plan to relocate this magnificent marine mammal’.
