Dip tank donation empowers Nkandla farmers to protect livestock from diseases

KZN government donates dip tank to Nkandla farmers, boosting cattle health and supporting livelihoods

Protecting livestock from diseases will be easier for Nkandla farmers following the donation of a dip tank to the Mahlathini community.

KZN Premier Thami Ntuli and Agriculture and Rural Development MEC Thembeni kaMadlopha-Mthethwa handed over the dip tank on Thursday as part of the Integrated Service Delivery Programme.

Ntuli encouraged livestock owners to approach farming as a business and participate in auction sales for their benefit.

KaMadlopha-Mthethwa explained that the dip tank will help local livestock owners vaccinate their cattle against airborne diseases and manage the animals more effectively.

The MECs Cluster A – which includes Sport, Arts and Culture MEC Mtomuhle Khawula and other high-profile government officials – also visited Ntingwe Tea Estate with the aim of restoring it to its former glory.

Ntingwe Tea is rated among the top quality teas globally by Taylors of Harrogate, and falls under the Agribusiness Development Agency, with Jerry Mfusi as acting CEO.

KaMadlopha-Mthethwa said the estate requires R37-million for its revival efforts.
