Ordination marks 30 years in ministry for Richards Bay pastor

Pastor Jay Roopnarian honoured at ordination service in Richards Bay

Marking 30 years of ministry, Pastor Jay Roopnarian was honoured during an ordination service at Hands of Mercy Ministries recently.

The service, which comes on the heels of the organisation’s 60th birthday, saw him formally instituted as a credential minister of the South African Evangelistic Mission (SAEM).

Senior Pastor Luis Meneon commended Ps Jay, who joined Hands of Mercy in 2012.

“We have witnessed the humility and servanthood over the years of his ministry with his wife Tashy,” said Ps Meneon. “They have both touched the lives of many people within the church, community and surrounding areas. We are so blessed to have them as part of the church, and wish this couple all the best as they enter a new chapter of their ministry.”

Ps Steven Frank, the moderator of SAEM, and Ps Strini Shunmugam, SAEM KZN regional chairperson, also congratulated Ps Roopnarian for his exceptional ministry.

Speaking after the event, Ps Roopnarian’s daughter, Yashmee Gounder, said, “As we celebrate this ordination ceremony, it is a public confirmation of the calling that so many of us have witnessed for years. My dad has had many health issues, but by the grace of God, he has lived to tell his testimony.”

She said he continues to lead by example. “He doesn’t just preach scripture, he lives it. He listens with compassion, serves without expecting praise, and carries burdens that many will never see.”
