Sanca Zululand to hit local malls with anti-drug message

Sanca Zululand to visit local shopping centres to raise awareness around substance abuse

As part of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26 June, Sanca Zululand is rolling out a series of awareness activities to promote a drug-free lifestyle and educate the public on the dangers of substance abuse.

The programme includes exhibitions and information tables aimed at making Sanca’s services more accessible. Upcoming events include:

• Tuesday, 24 June – Empangeni Shopping Centre (formerly Sanlam Centre) 10am to 2pm

• Wednesday, 25 June – KwaMbonambi Shopping Centre10am to 2pm

• Thursday, 26 June – March through eSikhaleni – starts at 9am

• Friday, 27 June – eShowe Mall 10am to 2pm

Sanca Zululand’s mission is to combat alcoholism and drug dependence by providing specialised, accessible and affordable prevention and treatment services across King Cetshwayo District.

“Substance abuse continues to plague communities, especially the youth, often having devastating consequences,” said Sanca Zululand director Shireen Sahadev.

“Through treatment and prevention programmes, Sanca aims to change behaviours and attitudes, and raise awareness around trends in society.”

Alternatively, visit them at 12 Jenner Road, Empangeni, Monday to Friday between 8am and 4pm.
