Tax season: Planned downtime for Sars digital platform

Interruptions to eFiling, Tax, and Customs digital platforms on Friday

In preparation for the upcoming tax season, set to open on Monday, 7 July, the South African Revenue Service’s (Sars) digital platform will undergo scheduled maintenance on Friday, 27 June.

The maintenance is scheduled to take place from 6pm to 10pm, with interruptions to eFiling, Tax, and Customs digital platforms.

The official statement reads: “Pivotal to the delivery of our vision are our digital platforms and technology infrastructure.

“To provide clarity and certainty, make it easy for taxpayers and traders to comply with their obligations and building public trust and confidence, our technology assets must demonstrate the highest levels of availability, robustness and security.”

2025 tax season dates:

•     Auto Assessment notices: 7 July 2025 to 20 July 2025

•     Individual taxpayers: 21 July 2025 to 20 October 2025

•     Provisional taxpayers: 21 July 2025 to 19 January 2026

•     Those with trusts can start filing on 19 September 2025 and must file on or before 19 January 2026.
