Two seriously injured in N2 truck crash near Empangeni

Rush-hour traffic was severely hampered on the N2 north of Empangeni this morning (Friday) after two trucks collided and veered down an embankment.

The accident occurred just before 7am in the vicinity of Enseleni Nature Reserve.

Reports from the scene indicate that both trucks were travelling north when one attempted to overtake the other.

They both reportedly lost control and went off the road, down the embankment.

Mounties EMS attended the scene and extricated one of the drivers, who was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

The second driver was also transported to hospital with serious injuries.

While the trucks involved in the accident were off the road, the left lane southbound was obstructed by emergency vehicles in attendance.
