Midnight electricity restoration for Meerensee, Mzingazi residents

Tide could affect repairs to necessitate restoration of Meerensee, Mzingazi electricity

Residents in Meerensee north and Mzingazi can expect their electricity to return only at around midnight tonight (Friday).

This after a power outage was reported at about 11am.

The City of uMhlathuze electrical team has since been investigating the cause of the outage, which is suspected to be at the Carina substation.

Owing to the location of the Carina substation at the steel bridge near the waterfront, the tide could delay the process.

The municipal electrical team has subsequently estimated restoration at midnight.

This update was circulated at 2pm, giving a 10-hour duration to restoration.

“Should there be a change in time, we will send an update. No update means the 10 hours (24:00) is still applicable,” read the statement.
