WATCH: Mtubatuba traffic cop’s killer escapes lawful custody

One of two suspects convicted of killing two Mtubatuba traffic officers has escaped.

The suspect escaped this (Monday) morning, while en route to the Mtunzini High Court for sentencing.

Confirming the incident, KZN Hawks spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Simphiwe Mhlongo said the escape occurred on the John Ross highway under the N2 bridge.

While the situation posed no obstruction to traffic, all relevant authorities were on scene.

Contrary to a video circulating on social media, no one was shot at the scene.
