Hijackers only needed a booze
Hijackers abandon truck in Babanango, and go for booze stock instead
A truck fully laden with crates of beer was hijacked in Babanango on Tuesday and found abandoned along the R68.
Zululand Cluster police spokesperson Captain Nkosie Gwala said the truck was found empty.
“All the beer had gone. The 154 loaded crates were loaded at Ulundi Ultra Liquors and were being delivered to Nkandla Ikhwezi wholesalers on Tuesday. It is believed that it was hijacked at Ulundi 19.

“Police received a complaint and together with Abe Jonstone from Zulutrack, the truck was found abandoned between Nkandla and Babanango without any stock,” Gwala said.
She said a search was conducted inside the bushes for the missing beers.

“One hundred and forty-eight crates of Black Label beers were found hidden in the bushes. Six crates were not found. Police continued to search for suspects, but they were nowhere to be found,” said Gwala, adding that a case of hijacking and theft was registered for further investigation.
