Buthelezi foundation opens office at Durban Waterfront
The virtues of nation-building, constitutionalism, justice and inclusiveness supported by Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi have taken form and structure.
This after the official opening of the offices of the Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi Foundation at Durban Waterfront on Saturday.
Established in 2021, the foundation continues to Prince Buthelezi’s legacy after his death in 2023.
The official opening was attended by the board of trustees, led by the chairperson, Velenkosini Hlabisa.
Boasting a life-sized statue of Prince Buthelezi, the offices house artifacts collected from his multi-dimensional journey across his 95 years of life.
Speaking at the launch, deputy national chairperson and trustee, Thembeni kaMadlopha-Mthethwa, said Prince Buthelezi’s refusal to cede the the Ingwavuma area to eSwatini in 1982 was a notable achievement.
“Buthelezi fought tirelessly to ensure that the land remained part of South Africa. I am a beneficiary of his sterling work, which ensured that the history was corrected,” she said.
Further to this, Prince Buthelezi’s role in South African history was commemorated on his birthday (27 August) with his final resting place at KwaPhindangene Royal Residence, in Mahlabathini in uLundi, declared a Provincial Heritage Site.
